Learn pro level techniques at Picture Lake.

Your Workshop Guide has over 30 years of photography experience and more than a decade of experience photographing the night sky in locations across the US.

There are several approaches that yield great night sky images. Whether you want to make single frame images, use the stacking software or use a tracking device (Equatorial Mount). This will be a great opportunity to lean to use the equipment you already own to create professional quality images.

Participants are responsible for their own ground transportation and accommodations should they choose to stay in the area. The location is approximately 90 minutes from Bellingham.

Logistics

·       One to two weeks before the photo shoot we will connect for a 60 minute online or in person meeting to prepare.  We will work this around your calendar and mine.  You can choose online or in person.

In this meeting we will discuss:

·      Your gear of choice

·      Any previous experience you have with Astrophotography

·      What you can expect the night of the shoot

·      Any other questions you have

The Workshop will conclude after five hours at 1am

Please Note: While weather delays are unlikely, they are still possible.  In general, light cloud cover will not prevent us from continuing the workshop.  In some cases it can enhance night sky photos when it can be leveraged to add an ethereal component.

Physical Requirements

We will be on some hard surfaces and gravel paths.  The area is accessible for most levels of ability.  There are several steps up and down on the trails (fewer than 20).  If you have concerns reach out to me before registering.

Group Sizes

Class size for this workshop will be limited to 3.  Maintaining this small class size ensures that your will have ample opportunity to ask questions about your techniques, the environment and receive personalized assistance from your guide.

Weather

Dress in layers as the temperature may fluctuate during the workshop.  An outer shell that is waterproof is recommended.
